On/off net rating: huge at the top, near zero in the middle

What it means
On/off net rating asks how much better a team's point differential is with a player on the floor versus off it. The stars separate hard -- Wembanyama in 2025-26, Jokic at +23.713 the season before -- but the full distribution hugs zero, which is the point: a big on/off number is rare and easy to misread. Who a player shares the floor with is tangled up with coach trust, opponent strength, and garbage-time minutes, so the raw delta flatters bench-anchoring bigs and punishes stars whose backups happen to play easy minutes.
Caveats & confounds
ROSTER CONFOUND: this on/off delta is NOT a causal player-impact estimate -- floor-sharing correlates with coach trust, opponent strength, and garbage-time usage, none controlled for. DESCRIPTIVE_ONLY until an earned predictive-validity receipt says otherwise.
